Maine Prince
A highly intense motivated sports trainer
that makes an impact immediately on every athlete directly and indirectly.
Moved to Philadelphia from his hometown of Chicago after leading the path to creating,
starting, operating 3 successful football programs consecutively from a high
school varsity team, then to a Division 3 college level team, and owning a
semi-professional football team, as well as the head coach. As a sports
trainer, his experience and knowledge of college and professional sports will
provide a solid learning tool for clients as they aspire to be champions in
their respective sports.
Maine earned 1st
team offense and 2nd
team defense High School All-American status by USA Today, and honorable
mention in Street & Smith’s magazine. During his junior and senior season
he compiled stats that not only impressed college coaches but a few NFL players
in the local area that came to watch a few games, such as Darrell Green, Doug
Williams, Dexter Manley who were all Washington Redskins players. Along with playing football,
Prince excelled in basketball as well. During his 3 years at Bishop Walsh, he
averaged 13 points during the sophomore year, 21 points during his junior year
and 30 points a game his senior year. Scoring 50 points 4 different times in
a single season and was the record holder for most three point attempts in a
season his senior year with 187 for 312 scoring 1,211 points. Although being
named to many all-star teams, Prince was excited to be nominated for the
Gatorade Player of the Year Award in 1989, losing to Terry Kirby and being
interviewed by ESPN’s Scholastic Sports America during its beginning years of
the high school sports program. Aside from the obvious domination in
football & basketball,
Prince also was a letter winner in baseball and track. Running a stadium
record in the 100 yard dash of 10.4 and several other top finishes in various
events. Aside from deciding which of the many colleges to attend, Prince
decided to play football and basketball at Penn State University to join a
winning tradition and outstanding program.
After graduating in 1995 with a degree in
Sports Law/Sports Management and a minor in Exercise in Sports Science, Prince
decided to continue to play football at the professional level. Free agent
camps for the Washington Redskins, Dallas Cowboys, Pittsburg Steelers, Chicago
Bears, was a great experience and he was eventually placed on the Kane County
Eagles, a minor league football team in Chicago, IL. In his first 3 years, Prince
was a two-time Casino Bowl All-American for 2 different teams and was invited
to many different arena league football teams and NFL Europe, but decided to
stay in the states after being selected to the Barcelona Dragons NFLE
previously and attend the Chicago Rush Arena Football Team camp.
As the Co-Owner of PSTC, raising the bar for
the potential for greatness among young student-athletes is what teaching is
about. Counseling young student-athletes gives them the outside support they
need aside from their parents or teachers or coaches to be able to learn objectively. The number one
goal for the PSTC is to have all student-athletes have the same or a better
opportunity to be recruited by colleges based on their experiences from high
school. Collegiate student-athletes should perform at their highest level
because they are blessed with the opportunity to participate in college.
Working with professional athletes for the past 4 years as a personal “sports”
trainer, Prince understands the need to be faster, quicker, stronger, because
it’s the difference in millions of dollars and not making the active
roster. Education & Sports do go together, but just as so, they must be
treated equal and more on the academic side because “the more you learn – the
more you grow!”
Prince brings the philosophy that he was
given by Michael Jordan, “No one tries to Fail – they only Fail to try.”
